Accounting Manager
Job Description
Pay: $110,000-$120,000-Exempt
Schedule:Â M-F 8-5Â
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Oversees daily accounting activities required to maintain the integrity of the general ledger for accurate reporting.Â
- Maintains all financial books, records and budgets for the organization, i.e., general ledger, cash flow, monthly and year-end reports as required, and any auditing entities retained by the Agency, complying with requests by established deadlines.Â
- Applies sound principles of accounting in obtaining, gathering and inputting financial information with the use of organizational equipment and data base systems.Â
- Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department without compromising internal controls.
- Performs hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, supervising and performance evaluations of the accounting staff.Â
- Maintains, monitor and improve internal controls for all accounting related operations.Â
- Assists in the preparation of the organization’s financial statements or other reports as directed by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).Â
- Temporarily assumes the duties of the CFO as assigned by the CEO or CFO when the CFO is not present.Â
- Responsible for the ongoing review and maintenance of the Accounting Department Procedures Manual.Â
- Monitors operational cash balances and the line of credit. Â Recommends borrowing, repayment, and transfer, to maintain appropriate account balances and meet the operational needs of the Agency.Â
- Primary contact for all audits of financial related materials. Â Supports the annual audits by providing information and answers to auditors.Â
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget, which is presented to the Board of Directors for approval.Â
- Responsible for coordinating and processing all reimbursement documents, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Â Approves and schedules cash disbursements, as necessary.Â
- Oversees and participates in the monthly general ledger reconciliations. Â Ensures reconciliation is properly assigned to team, including to the Accounting Manager.Â
- Performs the update of recurring entries as needed.Â
- Assists agency leadership members in understanding their financial reports.Â
- Responsible to coordinate the annual Supplies Inventory process.Â
- Assists in preparation/finalization of cost reports, miscellaneous regulatory reports, and budget analysis/preparation.Â
- Performs other administrative duties, (answering telephones, greeting and assisting customers, passing out administrative materials, etc.) attendant to the operation of the Administrative Department.Â
- Follows and adheres to all Agency Safety Policies.Â
- Maintains patient and family confidentiality within regulatory parameters and be respectful of patient belongings and environment of care.Â
- Performs other reasonably duties as assigned.Â
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Â
- Graduation from college with a degree in accounting or a combination of education and three to five years’ experience equivalent combination of accounting and bookkeeping experience or education.Â
- Possess and demonstrable good judgment and personal integrity.
- Required Skills - General ledger skills, typing ability of 45 wpm, 10-key by touch, experience in Sage-100 or other general ledger program and a better than working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, plus excellent writing/oral skills.Â
