Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in family law matters, with a focus on cases involving domestic abuse.
2. Conduct client consultations to understand their unique situations and legal needs.
3. Draft and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and agreements, with accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Advocate for clients in court hearings, mediation sessions, and negotiations, ensuring their interests are effectively represented.
5. Collaborate with internal team members, including paralegals and support staff, to ensure seamless case management and client support.
6. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and legal developments in the field of family law, particularly as they pertain to domestic violence and abuse.
7. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all client interactions and case proceedings.
8. Provide compassionate support and guidance to clients throughout the legal process, prioritizing their well-being and safety.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
3. Minimum of 0-3 years of experience or interest in practicing family law, with a focus on cases involving domestic violence and abuse preferred (even internships are acceptable).
4. Strong knowledge of Texas family law statutes, procedures, and court rules.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
6. Empathetic and compassionate demeanor, with a genuine desire to help individuals navigate difficult life situations.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategize effectively on behalf of clients.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing individual caseloads efficiently.
9. Proficiency in legal research and writing, including drafting pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
10. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
