Job Description
Hire Up Staffing is seeking a motivated Freight Dispatcher to join our client. As a Freight Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating the transportation of freight, ensuring efficient delivery and pickup schedules while optimizing routes to minimize costs and maximize customer satisfaction. Pay is up to 17/hr DOE
This will be a 100% onsite opportunity
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule the transportation of freight, including arranging pickups, deliveries, and transfers between locations.
- Communicate with drivers, carriers, and customers to provide instructions, updates, and resolution of any issues that may arise during transportation operations.
- Monitor freight shipments in transit, track progress, and address any delays or disruptions in a timely manner.
- Utilize dispatching software and GPS tracking systems to optimize routes, maximize efficiency, and minimize fuel consumption.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including shipment details, driver logs, mileage, and fuel usage.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as warehouse, operations, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination of freight transportation activities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including safety standards, freight handling procedures, and transportation laws.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and best practices in freight transportation and logistics, and implement relevant improvements or innovations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, transportation, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in freight dispatching or logistics coordination, preferably in a freight transportation or shipping company.
- Proficiency in dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with drivers, carriers, and customers.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of freight transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices is preferred.
