Job Title: Surgery Scheduling Coordinator
Location: Fresno, CA
Salary: $20-$22/hour
Job Overview:
Hire Up Staffing is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for a reputable medical practice in Fresno, CA. This position is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgeries and other medical procedures, ensuring patients are prepared with proper authorizations, eligibility verifications, and all necessary pre-operative instructions. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of medical scheduling processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate surgery and procedure scheduling, working closely with patients, healthcare providers, and the medical team
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and required authorizations
- Prepare and organize pre-operative instructions and patient records
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports for scheduled procedures
- Handle urgent scheduling requests as needed, ensuring timely and efficient coordination
- Provide high-quality service over the phone and follow up on patient inquiries
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations
- Participate in relevant team meetings and contribute to scheduling efficiency
- Perform additional job-related tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of experience, ideally in a medical or surgical office setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans (HMOs, PPOs, EPOs) preferred
- Strong computer and data entry skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform data entry for most of the shift
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds as needed
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment like keyboards and photocopiers
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in office procedures and managed care processes
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively with patients, staff, and partners
