Medical Billing Appeals Specialist – Fresno, CA (Corporate Office Environment)
Pay Range: $19–$24/hour DOE
Hours:Â 7am-4pm Monday-Friday
We’re hiring an experienced Medical Billing Appeals Specialist to join a growing team at a large, well-established corporate office in Fresno, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for growth, stability, and the chance to bring their expertise in high-volume medical billing appeals to a dynamic and evolving role.
About the Role:
As a Medical Billing Appeals Specialist, your primary focus will be handling high-volume medical claim appeals and disputes, including CMS (Medicare Demands), IDR (NSA) Disputes, Invoicing, and Reconciliation. You’ll also contribute to broader cost containment efforts and play a key part in ensuring claims are processed accurately and efficiently.
What We're Looking For:
- At least 4 years of recent hands-on experience managing medical billing appeals in a high-volume environment
- Strong working knowledge of:
- CMS (Medicare) demands
- Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) under the No Surprises Act
- Medical claims appeals & disputes
- Invoicing and reconciliation
Day-to-Day Duties:
- Identify, develop, and implement cost-saving opportunities
- Handle adjustments, voids, and reissues (JAA, MCS)
- Work with payers such as Blue Cross and communicate with carriers regarding claim statuses
- Reconcile reports and track errors or overpayments
- Process stop-loss claims and manage third-party liability cases
- Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and confidentiality
- Collaborate with other departments and attend meetings/training as needed
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- 4+ years of recent, relevant experience in medical billing appeals (managed care setting preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and excellent communication skills
