Job Description
Medical Billing Assistant – Full Time
Location: On-Site (Durable Medical Equipment Office)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Pay: Starting at $18.00-$20 per hour, with potential increases based on experience (position tops out at $24/hour once fully trained and meeting goals)

Position Overview:
Our busy Durable Medical Equipment (DME) office is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with referral sources, patients, coworkers, and insurance companies to ensure timely claim processing and payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process insurance claims and post payments from EOBs (Explanation of Benefits)
- Follow up on outstanding claims and obtain necessary documentation
- Verify insurance benefits and use billing software to submit claims
- Answer phone calls and assist with general office tasks as needed
- Maintain knowledge of current Medicare, Medi-Cal, and private insurance regulations
- Prepare and send out monthly billing statements
- Support the office with additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous DME experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Ability to interpret insurance EOBs
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills
- Basic office, math, and computer skills (printing, faxing, scanning)
- Must be reliable, with excellent phone etiquette
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
