Job Description
Hire Up Staffing and Healthcare is seeking a Medical Billing Assistant for one of our healthcare clients in Visalia, CA. This is an onsite position week temp to hire.Â
Schedule:Â M-F 8am - 5pm
Pay:Â Starting out at $18.00 + Up Depending on Experience.Â
Job Summary:Â
Medical Billing Assistant working directly with our referral sources, coworkers, patient’s and insurances to assure timely processing and payment of claims.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of current Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurances, and regulatory body regulations as related to current products and services offered by the company,
- Posting of payments from insurance EOB’s and patient payments.
- Evaluate claims for proper payment, isolating claims that require additional attention.
- Follow up on outstanding held claims report. To include communication with referral sources for outstanding documentation.
- Review, notate and mail out monthly billing statements.
- Verification of insurance benefits.
- Use billing software to prepare and transmit claims.
- Answer multi-system phone lines as needed.
- Provide office support in other areas that may not be directly related to billing
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience as a Medical Billing Assistant
- Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required
- Previous DME experience preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be reliable and dependable Proper and pleasant phone etiquette is a must.
- Should be able to interpret an insurance EOB.
- Ability to multitask effectively, take and follow directions.
- Ability work in a fast paced environment.Â
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Basic math, computer and office skills, printing/faxing/scanning
- This employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
