Job Title: Medical Billing Coordinator

Overview:
An insurance billing department in the Fresno area is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Coordinator to join their billing review team. This role focuses on processing authorization requests, verifying eligibility, entering data, and communicating with provider offices and patients. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, have solid customer service skills, and are knowledgeable about insurance processes, this could be a great fit.
Key Responsibilities:

Research and process patient authorization requests

Verify insurance eligibility and patient benefits

Enter demographic and authorization data into system

Prepare and manage medical review forms and logs

Answer incoming calls and provide high-quality customer service

Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA standards

Assist with urgent “stat” requests as needed

Attend required department meetings and participate in team efforts

Support other team functions as assigned
Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required
-
At least 3 years of experience in a medical office or insurance setting with medical billing duties

Strong data entry skills and computer proficiency

Familiarity with insurance types (HMO, PPO, EPO, workers’ comp, etc.)

Excellent communication and organizational skills
-
Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a high-volume environment

Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive data tasks
Preferred:

Knowledge of medical terminology
-
Experience with insurance billing and authorizations
-
Prior work in a managed care or utilization management department
