Hire Up Staffing is Now Hiring – Maintenance Person – Painter
Location: Central in Tulare/Visalia (multiple sites; must be able to travel between locations)
Pay: $23.54/hour
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Classification: Non-Exempt
Important Notes:
- Candidates must be willing to travel between multiple Housing Authority locations
- Position is through Hire Up Staffing supporting a local client
- Reliable transportation is required

Position Overview:
Under general direction, the Maintenance Person – Painter performs interior and exterior painting of residential units, buildings, and other housing authority structures. This includes applying paint and finishes to surfaces such as walls, doors, cabinets, trim, and garage doors while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Paint interior and exterior surfaces including walls, floors, doors, cabinets, trim, and garage doors
- Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, cleaning, patching, priming, and sealing
- Mix and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints using caulk, putty, plaster, or similar materials
- Protect surrounding areas using drop cloths, plastic, and tape
- Operate spray guns and painting equipment for large-scale projects
- Set up and work from ladders, scaffolding, and staging as needed
- Move furniture and equipment to prepare surfaces and reinstall after work is completed
- Apply touch-ups and additional coats as needed
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
- Follow safety practices at all times when performing duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in interior and exterior painting
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, materials, and surface preparation
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently and safely
- Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record
- Basic computer skills (MS Office preferred)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and tools
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs on a regular basis
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on ladders or scaffolding
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions (hot/cold)
- Ability to stand and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Good vision, hearing, and communication skills
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and work effectively as part of a team
