Job Description
Job Title: Patient Access Representative
Location: Templeton, CA
Job Summary:
The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a positive experience while accurately collecting and managing patient information. This role supports efficient patient flow, verifies insurance coverage, and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday
- 8:30am – 5pm.
- 13 – Week Assignment
Pay:
- $20.00 - $22.00 DOE
Essential Job Functions:
- Greeting patients in person and over the phone in a professional and courteous manner
- Register patients by collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referrals prior to services
- Explain registration forms, consent documents, and financial responsibility to patients
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient check-in and check-out processes
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances when applicable
- Maintain accurate patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff, billing departments, and insurance providers
- Resolve registration, billing, and insurance discrepancies as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Cerner Experience is a plus
- Previous experience in healthcare registration, front desk, or customer service preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and billing processes a plus
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
