Payroll / Human Resources Assistant
Pay: $26–$30/hour (DOE)
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: On-site in Fresno, CA at a corporate office (professional business attire)
Position Overview
We are seeking a sharp, detail-driven Human Resources Assistant to support HR leadership in a fast-paced, professional environment. This role reports directly to HR leadership and requires someone who can think critically, research independently, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
This is not an entry-level HR role. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working in an HR department and is comfortable supporting payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee relations.
We are looking for someone who is:
Pay: $26–$30/hour (DOE)

Position Overview

Provide day-to-day administrative support to HR leadership

Maintain accurate, confidential employee records (digital and paper)

Enter, update, and audit employee data in the HRIS
-
Coordinate schedules for interviews, meetings, and orientations
-
Prepare routine HR correspondence and internal documentation
-
Prepare onboarding materials and new hire documentation
-
Collect and track employment eligibility documentation
-
Communicate with new hires prior to start date
-
Coordinate and support new hire orientations
-
Assist leadership with timesheet corrections and audits
-
Identify discrepancies or missing information for review
-
Process biweekly payroll for a small employee population
-
Upload retirement contribution files to the plan administrator
-
Upload FSA contribution files to the benefits administrator
-
Distribute benefits enrollment materials and required notices
-
Answer basic employee benefit questions and escalate complex issues
-
Process qualifying life event documentation under guidance
-
Maintain accurate benefits records and confirmations
-
Assist with annual open enrollment preparation and tracking

Distribute and track leave of absence documentation (FMLA, CFRA, PDL)

Monitor form deadlines and receipt
-
Maintain leave tracking logs and supporting documentation
-
Route complex or sensitive matters to HR leadership

Schedule interviews and meet-and-greet appointments

Coordinate with external staffing partners as needed

Prepare offer letter templates for leadership review

Route recruiter and agency inquiries appropriately

Track completion of required trainings and certifications
-
Maintain accurate training logs and records
-
Distribute required state and federal employee notices as needed

Serve as an initial point of contact for general HR questions

Route employee concerns to HR leadership
-
Maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality at all times

Scan, file, and archive HR documents in an organized digital system

Run basic HR reports as directed

Perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy

Follow direction from HR leadership

Ask questions when uncertain and avoid assumptions

Verify information before acting

Handle confidential information with care and discretion

Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organization

Prior experience working in an HR department required
-
Payroll processing experience required
-
Strong administrative, research, and problem-solving skills
-
High level of professionalism and discretion

Comfortable working with HR systems and digital recordkeeping
**Ideally would have OnePoint Payroll software experience
