Quality Control Engineer

Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quality Team at the Houston facility, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with company objectives.
- Implement and maintain the IATF 16949 Quality Management System Requirements, overseeing compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
- Conduct internal audits to verify adherence to quality standards and identify areas for enhancement.
- Demonstrate expertise in AIAG standards including APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, MSA, SPC, CQI 8, 9, 11, 12, 15, and 23, and apply these methodologies to drive quality improvements.
- Utilize problem-solving methods such as Fishbone Diagrams, 8D, 5Why, and 5P to identify root causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee quality control methods in the production process, including First/Last Piece Inspection, On Line Inspection, Control of Non-conforming products, and Product Containment.
- Apply various dimensional and structural measurement methods including the use of Calipers, Height Gages, micrometers, Optical measurement equipment, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
- Conduct Gauge R&R studies and manage calibration processes to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Evaluate process capability and CPK to ensure manufacturing processes meet required specifications.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to interpret prints, drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Lead cross-functional teams for new product implementation (APQP) and ensure seamless communication with multiple facilities.
- Maintain strong communication channels with customers, addressing quality concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Engage with suppliers for communication, development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of quality and innovation within the team.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience in a QC role, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
Proven experience with a deep understanding of IATF 16949 Quality Management System Requirements and AIAG standards.
Strong proficiency in problem-solving methodologies like Fishbone Diagrams, 8D, 5Why, and 5P.
Demonstrated knowledge of quality control methods, measurement tools, and statistical techniques.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering prints, GD&T, and CAD software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a quality role is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with customer communication, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Certifications related to quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) are a plus.
