Schedule: M-Thurs 8am-5pm with possible Fridays 9am-2pm
Pay: $22.00-$26.00 hourly
DA/Front Floater Official Job Description
Everyday duties in BACK OFFICE (most important):
- Taking most of doctor patient radiographs photos and on hygiene patients (as needed) + downloading into patient charts (approx. 15 mins for FMX, 5 mins for BW)
- Constantly thinking of infection control, preparing, and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Daily cleaning and trash (dusting, sweeping + moping [when there are no patients], changing trash bags daily [at end of day], cleaning bathroom as needed) Restocking all operatories and sterilization area as well as front office (cups, etc) as needed, while noting when supplies are low
- Being 1 step ahead of doctor when looking at schedule (look often and train yourself on what you need to do for each appt) + setting up rooms for other assistant
- Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse (if needed)
- Knowledge of Dentrix-preferred but not required.
Possible duties in back office AS NEEDED (usually designated to other assistant. but can vary based on situations):
- Assisting the doctor during a varies of treatment procedures + setup for treatments
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration, etc.
- Teaching patients' appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.9., tooth brushing, flossing)
- Taking impressions for study casts (models of teeth)
- Having a keen knowledge of what you are doing and why at all times! lf a patient asks you a question when the doctor is not around, you want to give them an accurate answer.
- Confirming appointments 1 week out (can do automatically) sooner if appts not firm yet
- Calling on unscheduled list / call list
- Scheduling patients if needed (from phone and/or recalls in office)
- Answering phones when available (even if in back office - put call on hold and let front know if you are busy)
- Running payments (zelis, patients, etc,)
- Checking insurances and prepping schedule (for next day)
- Shredding
