Job Description
Hire Up Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join a medical office team. This crucial role involves managing and facilitating patient referrals to specialists, ensuring smooth communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, an understanding of medical terminology, and a customer-focused attitude. The Referral Coordinator will be responsible for handling referral requests, processing necessary documentation, and ensuring that patients receive appropriate care in a timely and efficient manner.
Schedule: Part time 20 hours per week with possibility of assisting in Medical Scanning, Front Reception and Answering phones can increase hours to 32-36 hours per week.
Pay: $21.00+ DOE
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process patient referral requests from physicians, patients, and specialists.
- Ensure all referral documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with medical standards.
- Schedule appointments with specialists and coordinate follow-up care as needed. Also assist with Front desk and phones
- Track and monitor pending referrals, ensuring timely processing and resolution.
- Communicate with patients to confirm referral details and appointment scheduling.
- Liaise with specialists, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure seamless care and proper authorization.
- Obtain insurance authorization for specialist visits, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist with Medical Scanning as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and resolving referral-related issues.
- Assist in maintaining a smooth office workflow by organizing and documenting all referral-related tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and referral processes.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite, Epic & NexGen.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
