Hire Up Staffing is hiring a skilled Senior Tax Manager in Houston, TX for a Direct Hire position

M-F Schedule, Hybrid
Position Overview: As a Senior Tax Manager you will play a crucial role in managing the company's tax compliance and reporting requirements, with a particular focus on cross-border tax issues. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations while identifying opportunities to optimize tax efficiency and minimize risk.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance: Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, VAT/GST, and other indirect taxes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

  2. Cross-Border Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to address cross-border tax issues, including transfer pricing, permanent establishment considerations, and foreign tax credits.

  3. Tax Reporting: Prepare and review tax provisions for financial reporting purposes in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS), ensuring compliance and accuracy.

  4. Risk Management: Identify and assess tax risks associated with business activities, transactions, and investments, and develop strategies to mitigate such risks.

  5. Tax Advisory: Provide expert tax advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on a wide range of tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and other business initiatives.

  6. Compliance Monitoring: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company, and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.

  7. Audit Support: Coordinate and manage tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities, liaising with external advisors as necessary to ensure a timely and favorable resolution.

  8. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster their professional development and enhance team effectiveness.

  9. Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with external advisors, tax authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to stay abreast of industry developments and best practices.

  10. Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the tax function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 

  2. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in tax compliance, advisory, and planning, with a focus on cross-border tax issues.
