Hire Up Staffing is seeking a Staff Accountant for a client in Exeter, CA. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with an hourly pay of $28/hr. Health, dental, vision benefits, retirement, life insurance, sick leave, and vacation are provided after 3 months. This is a great opportunity to work with a non-profit organization that provides food assistance to members of our community. This type of work is meaningful and rewarding. 
 

Job Summary: The ideal candidate will manage financial operations, maintain accurate records, and support organizational leadership. Key responsibilities include participating in mission-driven initiatives, overseeing financial reporting and budget management, maintaining records, and handling bookkeeping tasks. 

Work Schedule: Day shift 40 hours a week. Must be available for some weekends and evenings. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • MISSION AND LEADERSHIP
  • Participate in supporting leadership to carry out the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Develops and maintains a positive work environment, communicating with all the team members and volunteers in a collaborative and respectful manner.
  • Maintain financial and administrative structures and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Respectfully and professionally represent the organization at all times
  • FINANCIALSTRATEGY, REPORTING AND BUDGET MANAGEMET
  •  Responsible for financial data collection, analysis, and reporting, focusing on prepaid amortization and accrued expense accounts.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and analyses for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Provide financial reporting for all grants and contracts.
  • Advise the Executive Director and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
  • Monitor budget performance and make necessary adjustments as needed. Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting and appropriate controls.
  • Aids in annual audit preparation maintains internal controls, and proposes process improvements.
  • RECORDKEEPING
  • Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with rules of affiliated agencies and federal, state, and local regulations.? Maintain appropriate insurance policies.
  • BOOKKEEPING
  • Responsible for recording and maintaining the organization's daily financial transactions and records.
  • Maintain records of financial transactions by posting, and reconciling them in comparison to the bank statements monthly.
  • Prepare deposits
  • Pay bills
  • Maintain vendors list
  •  Maintain systems to account for financial transactions by maintaining a chart of accounts, classes, and vendor profiles.
  • Track income and expenses by class, particularly as they relate to grants earned by the organization.
  • Generate reports on profit & loss against budget by month.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing accounting for information for the Board of Directors and the Executive Directors.
  • Monitor for variances from the approved budget.
  • Assist in financial activities.
  • Generate and pay invoices
  • Collect donations and monies from items sold
  • Oversee payroll administration process, keep in compliance, and manage quarterly and annual payroll tax reports.
     

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance: Preferred 
  • Experience with non-profit accounting
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Experience using G-Suite and Microsoft 
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Must have ability to cooperatively manage and lead people using anti-racist and social justice frameworks. 

Required Knowledge/Mental Skills/Abilities:
  • Efficient in QuickBooks, Excel, and all Google Drive applications
  • String communication and customer service skills. 
  • Detailed oriented, efficient, and organized.
